Date: Satday, June 16, 2012

Meet: 8:00 at parking lot for Duncan library for car-pooling, to leave no later than 8:15 or meet at the Artifact Society parking lot at 9:30.

Time: At the Artifact Society parking lot at 9:30.

Directions: From Duncan, take the Trans Canada Highway towards Victoria, turn left on Mackenzie to the Pat Bay Highway.  Take the Pat Bay Highway towards Sydney turn right on to Island View road, go one block and turn left on Lochside Drive.  Take it to the entrance of the site.

Costs: $7.00 per person

Walking Conditions: Good

Features: “…One of Western Canada’s largest collections of working steam engines, tractors, agricultural machinery and household and industrial artifacts.”  Variety of old vehicles, Saanichton School House, Print Shop, Blacksmith Shop, Pond and Newman Boat House with a collection of marine artifacts, Carpentry Shop, Chapel, Log Cabin, Moody Building (thought to have been brought from England in 1859), Museum Building, Planer Mill, Saw Mill, Waterwheel, etc.  The Vancouver Island Model Engineers build and operate model trains at the site.
This is the sites Summer Fair so all of the machinery and equipment, including trains will be running and there will be plenty of people on site for those of you interested in taking photos of people.  Tripods are permitted.
