Walking Conditions: open field with short grass,100m to dike, grassy dike to edge of bay for approximately 1/2 km
Directions: travel south from Duncan on the Trans Canada Highway past the Farmers Market; turn left onto Cowichan Bay Road; go to the stop sign and turn left onto Tzouhalem Road; drive past the Westcan Terminal Industrial Road; turn right onto Samuel Road (watch for Affinity Guest House sign) and follow it to the parking lot.
Cautions: one old farm shelter out in the estuary that has offered shelter for other photographers, no shelter from trees or buildings once you are at the river and dike, wind may play a factor in comfort,

Photo Opportunities: this is the prime season for eagles and spawning salmon, also gulls, herons, geese, swans, osprey, tiny brown birds, swallows, sea lions, otters in and around the estuary (could be in water or on land running to water area), different views of the Bay and Mount Tzouhalem
