Englishman River Falls Provincial Park
Date: Saturday March 17 Meet: Meet at Duncan Library Parking Lot for carpooling at 8:40 to leave at 8:50 or at the day use parking area in the park at 10:30 Time: 10:30am at park parking lot Directions: Take the Island Highway towards Nanaimo and merge onto the Nanaimo Parkway. Turn off at exit 51 towards Coombs for the Port Alberni Hwy. Turn left on Errington Road. The park entrance is 8.6 km on the right. Costs: None Washrooms: Yes Walking Conditions: Reasonable trails, some steep areas when going to the lower falls. Features: Two waterfalls along a descending riverbed into a deep canyon, old-growth and second-growth forest of douglas fir, cedar, hemlock and maple, hiking trails through the forest and along the river, two bridges cross the river, a deep pool at the end of the lower falls is used as a swimming hole in summer.
