Fort Rodd Hill - English Car Show
Date: September 09 Time: Meet at the Duncan Library Parking Lot for carpooling at 8:45 to leave at 9:00 or at the site parking lot at 10:00. Costs: Adult $3.90, Senior $3.40, Youth $1.90. Directions: From Duncan take the Island Highway for 46.8 km to Exit 14 toward Colwood/Soorke/Port Renfrew/Langord S and merge onto Venterans Memorial Prakway BC-14 W for 1 km. Turn left onto Goldstream Ave for 2 km and turn left onto the Old Island Hwy N (signs for Victoria) for 350 m. Turn right toward Ocean Blvd and take the 1st right onto Ocean Blvd for 290m where there is a slight left to stay on Ocean Blvd. Take the 2nd left onto Fort Rodd Hill Rd. Walking Conditions: Good Features: an historic fort built in the late 1890’a and restored to its appearance during WWII; three gun batteries with examples of both 1900 and WWII armament, underground magazines, command posts, guardhouses, barracks, searchlight emplacements. Fisgard Lighthouse. On this date there is an English Car Show. Photo possibilities: the historic fort and displays, the lighthouse, waterfront sights, wildlife includes deer, river otters, mink, raccoons, harbour seals and sea lions, a variety of bird life, tide pools, sea and mountain views, English Cars.
