Little Qualicum Falls

Date: Sunday, July 22

Meet: Meet at the parking area in Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park at 9:30.

Time: For car-pooling, meet at the Duncan Library parking lot at 7:30 to leave no later than 7:45. 

Directions:  Take the Island Highway towards Nanaino and merge onto the Nanaimo Parkway.  Take the Port Alberni exit (51) to the Port Alberni Highway for 9.6 km, keeping to the left at the fork in the road, turn left onto Alberni Hwy 4 for 10.5 km and turn right onto Chalet Rd for 350 m to the park.

Costs: None

Washrooms:  Several, at least one of which is handicapped accessible.

Walking Conditions:

Cautions: Riverbanks can be very slippery and the river contains waterfalls, strong currents and other hazards. Stay away from cliff and riverbank edges. Jumping from bridges or cliffs is prohibited.

Features: Shaded trails around the river with views of the river and falls; upper and lower waterfalls set in a rocky gorge; possible birds and other wildlife in and around the park, forest plants.
