Goldstream Provincial Park

 Date:  Saturday Oct. 15

Meet:  Duncan Library at 8:50 to leave at 9:00 if car pooling or at day use parking area in the park at 10:00.

Costs:  none

Washrooms: on site

Walking Conditions:  good paths.

Directions from Duncan:  Turn right on Island Highway and from Trunk Road travel 41.9 km to the entrance to Goldstream Provincial Park.  Turn left into the entrance and left again into the day parking area.  (Parking fees have been removed from all Provincial Parks.)

Features: A Provincial Park with more than 475 hectares of land, a salmon-spawning stream (spawning between October and December), a Visitor Centre, old-growth temperate rain forest, wildlife viewing platform, two waterfalls, and an abandoned gold mine, trail to the top of Mt Finlayson and a trail to “Niagara Falls” which is higher than its namesake, at least ten different types of trees.

Photo Opportunities: Spawning Salmon, Bald Eagles, other wildlife drawn by the spawning salmon, stream, waterfalls, etc.
