Field Trip – Mt Tzouhalem Flower Reserve

LOCATION: Saturday April 22, 2017 – Mt Tzouhalem Flower Reserve
WASHROOMS: yes there are washrooms at the parking lot area
WALKING CONDITIONS: good but can be slippery if wet… generally flat with well-packed trails please use caution, trails do have rock and roots watch for tripping, also at the flower reserve watch where walking
WHEEL CHAIR ACCESSIBLE: no
DIRECTIONS: Can meet at the library for carpooling, will be leaving library @ 9:30am or meet at the parking lot @ the Flower Reserve area @ 10:00am for walk to flower reserve. From library go left on James St to hwy, make right onto Hwy and go up 2 blocks and make left onto Trunk Rd. Follow Trunk which turns into Tzouhalem Road, @ the roundabout turn off on second Rd. and you will be on Maple Bay Road. Follow Maple Bay for 3 kilometres, then turn right onto Kingsview Road (which is the “Properties”) and follow it up to Chippewa Road. Turn right onto Chippewa and follow it to Kaspa Road. Turn left onto Kaspa and follow it to the end where a narrow paved road leads to the parking area by the water tower.
CAUTIONS: watch your step can be muddy, or tree roots, rocks,
Please make sure no valuables are left in your car and lock your car for security.
FEATURES: can see a beautiful vista of mountains and a couple lakes inside the ecological reserve, landscapes
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES: birds, landscape, breathtaking views of the Cowichan Valley, wildflowers, meadows, if you want you can walk from there up to the cross
COFFEE: bring a bagged snack or lunch that way you can stay as long as you like
