Outing
June 21st Colliery Dam Park, Nanaimo. Picnic lunch, so we can sit around and visit after, exchange stories and get a group photo.
Meet there 10am in the 2nd parking lot. It is paved it is at the bend in the road where Wakesiah becomes 6th st. We choose this so it is accessible to all abilities. (If you feel this is a mistake, please email me and tell me why the other lot is better, I have never been to the park)
Address: 635 Wakesiah Avenue
There are two parking lots one along Nanaimo Lakes road which will lead you directly out to a bridge between the two dams. The second is at bend in the road where Wakesiah becomes Sixth Street.
Accessibility notes: Best wheelchair access is main entrance off of Sixth Street within paved parking lot. Hard-packed and level asphalt path takes visitors to the first lake. Access to upper lake requires crossing a gravel parking lot. Trails range from easy to quite steep. Washroom doors are 86 cm wide.
Lots to see here. Google the park and have a look
Dress for weather (which will be fantastic!! lol), bring water and snacks and ware good shoes. Easy walking.
